Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga .
with iyengar alignment

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a very old system, a mental-spiritual and physical practice that was first documented in writing in the "Yoga Korunta" 1000 to 1500 years ago. At the beginning of the 20th century, T. Krishnamacharya was introduced to the teachings of Yoga Korunta and Ashtanga Vinyasa by his master and passed them on to his students since the 1920s. The most talented among them, BKS Iyengar and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, eventually made the traditional system known in the western world.

The Vinyasa system works with the synchronization of deep, rhythmic breathing, the so-called Ujjayi breathing, and movement. It enables a continuous flow of energy that heats your body, enriches your blood with oxygen, massages and purifies your internal organs, refreshes your nervous system and removes toxins with your sweating. Burning off these toxins results in a strong body and a clear mind. The heat generated in the body remains not only a physical experience, but also represents the inner spiritual fire that clears the fog of illusions, deceptions and ignorance of our everyday life. As Pattabhi Jois put it; "Even iron has to bend to the heat".

You begin to open up and loosen up areas of your body that were previously narrowed and blocked. This experience ultimately leads you to the level of spiritual-spiritual knowledge; Your journey does not end with getting to know your body better, but it will lead you to your inner core, your heart. On the way there you will overcome numerous hurdles with discipline, willpower and above all with self-esteem. Through this further development of your character, you will bring about a fundamental change in your life.

Originally used as a loosening-up method for younger students who shouldn't get bored of the long positions to be held within the framework of the so-called "static yoga practice", Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is nevertheless a highly mental-spiritual and demanding physical practice "Primary Series", the "Intermediate Series" or even more ambitious series follow prescribed sequences. Through the incessantly practiced and thus automatically executed sequences, through the mindfulness for your inner being made possible as well as the inseparability of breathing and movement, the entire practice becomes a type of meditation - whether in a guided group or in the Mysore style (yoga practice in your own Speed under the presence of the teacher). By concentrating on your movements, your breathing, and your inward focus - concentrating on what is known as drishti - your mind is calmed. Once you internalize the sequence and understand your body, the Ashtanga Vinyasa practice will become a wonderful dance through the sequence.
